Upper Canyon Creek, North Fork
Mount Bryant Tarn and GR404405

Elevation approx. 2600 m

June 12 , 1999

Long before I was doing my own trips, I followed Pete Irwin on a number of trips. On this occasion, Pete led Philip, Jackie, Rosie and I up the unnamed peak west of Mount Bryant. This is one of several unnamed peaks that can be accessed from the north fork of Upper Canyon Creek. Only the long, stony creek bed approach detracted from our enjoyment of the trip.

After leaving the creekbed, we made our way to the tarn below Mount Bryant. From the tarn we climbed to the col north of our peak before gaining it.

Before reaching the tarn, we bushwhacked through these trees.

The tarn at the base of Mount Bryant is surprisingly large.

From the tarn, we hiked up the slope seen here. The summit is somewhere
on the left. Peak on the right is GR395418.

Looking down at the tarn.

View from the summit, Mount Bryant is left of centre.
